Put CouchClash on the TV and a QR code appears. Friends point their camera at it and pick a name and an animal. They play in the browser, so there is no app for them to download.

  2. The TV showing question 2 of 15: which other country Mount Everest borders, with four colored answers and a 28 second clock.
Maya's phone during the question: four big colored answer tiles and her Bullseye power-up.

    Answer on your phone

The question shows on the TV. Every phone turns into four big colored tiles, so nobody squints at small print. Right answers score more the faster they land.

  3. The TV reveal: China (Tibet) is correct, with bars showing how the room voted.
Maya's phone after the reveal: not quite, the answer was China (Tibet).

    Watch the reveal

When the clock runs out, the TV shows the answer and how the room voted. Each phone tells its player how they did and where they rank.

  4. The TV leaderboard: Maya first with 969 points, Grandpa Joe close behind.
Maya's phone between questions: rank number 1 with 969 points.

    Climb the leaderboard

After every reveal the standings reshuffle live. When someone steals first place, the TV makes sure the whole couch knows.

  5. The TV final podium: Grandpa Joe first, Maya second, Sam third, in confetti.
Maya's phone at the end: number 2 on the podium with 3,927 points.

    Take the podium

After the last question, the top three rise onto the podium in a burst of confetti. Then the full standings, and the inevitable rematch.
